Steel Cut Wire Shot Manufacturer
Steel cut wire is produced from recycled steel wires, such as bead wires and steel ropes, which are cut into granules using specialized cutting machines. This ensures consistent quality and durability for demanding blasting applications.
The product is generally available in two shapes: cylindrical and spherical, with sizes ranging from CW1.0mm to CW3.0mm. These variations make it suitable for different surface treatment requirements across industries.
Compared with standard steel shots, cut wire features higher hardness, often exceeding 50 HRC. With advanced rounding processes, it can also be transformed into spherical cut shots, offering superior blasting performance and longer service life.
Product Details
Steel Cut Wire Shot is manufactured by cutting high-quality steel wires into uniform granules. Depending on the production process, it can be supplied in two main shapes: cylindrical cut wire and spherical cut wire (rounded shot). Through advanced rounding technology, the cut edges are eliminated, producing a smooth and durable shot material.
Characteristics
High Hardness – Typically above 50 HRC, much harder than conventional cast steel shots, ensuring aggressive blasting performance.
Durable & Long Life – Uniform microstructure and excellent fatigue resistance provide a longer operational life.
Consistent Shape – Available in both cylindrical and spherical forms, offering stable blasting quality.
Size Range – Standard sizes from CW1.0mm to CW3.0mm, with customized sizes available upon request.

Product Applications
Steel cut wires are produced from national standard bead wires and are widely applied in machinery, automotive, shipbuilding, steel structure, pipeline industries, and other manufacturing sectors for surface cleaning and strengthening of workpieces. During shot blasting, the cut wire shots are propelled at high speed by the blasting machine in a parabolic trajectory, effectively removing rust and oxide layers from the product surface while achieving the required finish and surface roughness. Among the available sizes, CW1.5mm is the most commonly used, with hardness typically exceeding 50HRC.
Due to their higher hardness, usually above 50HRC, steel cut wire shots can sometimes cause scuffing on softer materials, particularly those with hardness below 48HRC. For this reason, it is often recommended to mix steel cut wire shots with steel shots or steel grits of similar size for shot blasting. In practice, some customers also mix low-carbon steel shots with steel cut wire shots, which has proven to deliver excellent blasting results.
